Farewell Gift MussaDate: 25 May 2019 at 12:24 by Liam Cook
At the end of every season there are inevitable departures, and we can confirm one of our most treasured players is bidding a fond farewell to Coventry United.
Midfielder Gift Mussa will be leaving Coventry United ahead of the 2019/20 season, after 4 years in Red and Green, to pursue opportunities with clubs in a higher division. While some clubs may throw everything at keeping a player as crucial as Gift, we always encourage players to better themselves and seize opportunities such as this, you never know if they will come again. Gift has turned down approaches from significantly bigger clubs on numerous occasions, but he feels the time is right to try his luck higher up the non-league pyramid. While Gift’s new club is not currently known, we know he will do just fine as he continues his footballing journey away from the Red and Greens.
Gift made his debut for Coventry United in the 2014/15 season, and showcased his impressive abilities from the start, cementing himself as a real fan favourite. His skill on the ball, his expert understanding and his drive to succeed are qualities every player should strive for. He heads to pastures new after making 143 competitive appearances for Coventry United, scoring 4 goals in his 4 seasons with the club, as well as earning the Player of the Year Award for 2017/18.
We would like to thank Gift for his service and we wish him the very best of luck for his future career. Once a Red and Green, always a Red and Green.
