This defeat feels different to the Portsmouth one, simply because against Portsmouth we did not deserve anything from the game.
Lewes obviously started quicker and within 2 minutes we were 1-0 down, this has to improve because ultimately our first 10 minutes is becoming our downfall. We limited Lewes playing time and tweaked our formation to get us in some great positions, our final quality was lacking at times and when you're chasing a game the clock just ticks away from you and before you know it the final whistle has gone.
We had majority of the possession, the vital factor is what you do with the possession. Passing football is great but we have to take risks and drive ourselves forward at the right times.
To have a goal disallowed, miss a penalty and the ref not deal with a blatant red card incident lead to a frustrating afternoon. We aren't looking for excuses, but those factors certainly made a contribution.
Ultimately we have to look around our dressing room and ask questions of each other and react in a positive manner to criticism that will follow losing.
We will be back at it Tuesday ready for a tough test against Palace. Everyone should have the bit between their teeth this week and be raring to go!!
